Betfred League One Preview | Round 3

Betfred League One Preview | Round 3

Round 3 of Betfred League One is here, with four more matches taking place this weekend and one streamed LIVE. All teams are in action except for Cornwall RLFC.

The third round will kick-off on Friday night when the top two of the third tier go head-to-head in an enticing West Yorkshire derby - as Rivals Round filters down into the third tier. Hunslet and Keighley Cougars remain unbeaten in 2024 so far, but who will be the one to make it three from three?

Meanwhile, Newcastle Thunder play hosts to Workington Town in their first home game of the season. Both sides have suffered defeats in their opening two matches and will be no doubt targeting Round 3’s match for their first two points. Thunder have won their last five meetings with Workington, as well as their last five home meetings, but will they make it six on Saturday?

On Sunday, North Wales Crusaders are in action against Midlands Hurricanes as both teams enter this game with confidence and momentum on the back of two emphatic wins in the previous round. The Crusaders have won the past ten meetings with the Hurricanes and haven't tasted defeat against them since 2017 in a match for the League One Shield.

Finally, there’s another local derby on the cards when Sean Long’s Oldham return to action against rivals Rochdale. Boundary Park will be bouncing when the two sides meet as the hosts will aim to go back-to-back following a week out, whereas the Hornets will look to return to winning ways. And fans are in for an Easter Sunday treat as they can watch this match live on The Sportsman (K.O. 3pm) - a first taste of televised League One action in 2024.
